National Park de MaasduinenBergen, The Netherlands

The Maasduinen National Park is a 20 km nature reserve full of forest and meadows, located along a string of sandy dunes between the Meuse River and the German border. In the heart of the park, there is a visitor centre: a unique building, literally suspended in the basin of the old lock connecting Reinder Lake with Leuker Lake. The foundation wanted to provide an interactive presentation about the area with detailed information, and wanted to do it here.

The long, outstretched park needed something to connect it, a place where visitors could see at a glance all the treasures to discover between the A77 and A67 motorways, between the Meuse and the German border. Well was designated as the primary location. Here, through Dim advertising agency Lagotronics Projects was given the assignment of bringing the experience of the outdoors inside through three information kiosks.

The visitor centre 'hangs' at a unique location in an old lock basin. The interactive elements bring the experience of the outdoors inside. Tactile walls, scent boxes, and an I-point provide information about the surroundings. Lagotronics Projects placed three information kiosks, each equipped with a touchscreen and integrated PC. A number of additional 10" screens were also installed in a wall with portholes.

The touchscreens and wall screens give the visitor a first impression of the surrounding nature area. And what the visitors learn from them can be experienced in the outdoors immediately. This way, visitors are even more aware of everything they experience in the park. The Limburg Landscape Foundation sees this and is extremely happy with the new addition.
