Modern Interactive Technology for a Classic Family Dark Ride

Located inside North America’s oldest continuously operating amusement park, Ghost Hunt at Lake Compounce has entertained families for years with its haunted-house adventure. To ensure the attraction could continue delivering a great guest experience while reducing maintenance requirements, the park partnered with Lagotronics Projects to completely upgrade the ride’s interactive system.

The Challenge

The original interactive system had become outdated and increasingly difficult to maintain. Lake Compounce was looking for a modern, reliable solution that would improve gameplay, increase uptime, and provide long-term support—all while preserving the beloved storyline and atmosphere of the attraction.

The Solution

Lagotronics Projects delivered a complete replacement of the ride’s interactive technology, including:

  • New high-accuracy interactive shooters
  • LED-based technology with no mechanical wear parts
  • New target and infrared sensor systems
  • Integrated audio feedback for enhanced gameplay
  • Personal scoring displays in each vehicle
  • A large end-of-ride scoreboard displaying individual scores and high scores
  • A fully renewed show control system

The new interactive devices offer improved accuracy, a wider shooting range, and instant audiovisual feedback, creating a more engaging experience for guests of all ages.

Smart Ride Management

In addition to enhancing gameplay, the new system provides powerful operational benefits for the park team.

The upgraded show control software allows operators to easily adjust scoring difficulty and target behavior based on guest feedback. The flexible software architecture also enables the triggering of custom show effects and interactive events throughout the ride, giving Lake Compounce the tools to continuously optimize the experience.
