Tomb Blaster - World of Adventures

Chessington, UK

Modernizing a Classic Adventure

Tomb Blaster sends adventurers deep into an Ancient Egyptian labyrinth to battle the Curse of the Mummy. However, the ride’s original interactive system had become outdated and required extensive maintenance. Chessington World of Adventures was looking for a future-proof solution: a reliable and durable interactive system backed by long-term support. Lagotronics Projects was selected to completely renew the experience while preserving the attraction’s popular gameplay.

A Complete Interactive Upgrade

Lagotronics Projects delivered a fully new interactive system, including shooters, targets, and score displays. The attraction features five trains with six vehicles each, accommodating five players per vehicle. Every player has an individual shooter and personal score display, creating a highly competitive experience.

In total, 560 targets were installed throughout the ride. Many are cleverly hidden within the scenery or disguised as creatures such as spiders. To add an extra layer of gameplay, certain targets only become active after a specific trigger is hit, revealing new targets and surprising players with unexpected challenges.

Enhanced Replay Value

Players can follow their individual scores throughout the ride on their in-vehicle displays. At the finale, everyone’s results are presented on a giant scoreboard, accompanied by ride photos provided by Picsolve. Combining scores with personalized images creates a memorable finish and encourages guests to ride again to beat their friends and family.

The Tomb Blaster upgrade demonstrates how existing attractions can be successfully revitalized without the need for a completely new ride. By “plussing” a proven concept with modern technology, theme parks can extend the life of their attractions while delivering fresh experiences and increased guest engagement.

“The team of Lagotronics Projects managed to achieve great results in a small timescale with professionalism and respect. We are impressed that they were able to coordinate this job so well and complete ahead of schedule with no major setbacks. We look forward to their continued support with the interactive system in our ride ‘Tomb Blaster’ in the future!”
